Lutterworth Choral performed to a packed audience at Claybrook Church in our Summer Concert on July 6th
Welcome to the website of Lutterworth & District Choral Society (informally Lutterworth Choral). We are a non-auditioning choir with a long and proud tradition of performing 4 part choral music in Lutterworth and the surrounding area. Over a three concert year, Choir and audience alike experience choral music of great variety; secular, religious, ancient and modern – all done with an enthusiasm which reflects the lively, friendly atmosphere for which the Choir is famous.
The new choir year began with our AGM on Monday September 9th, where a presentation was made to Agnita Tennant on her retirement from the Choir after 31 years membership!
Our first rehearsal will be on Monday September 16th, 7.30pm at the usual venue of Lutterworth Methodist Church on Bitteswell Road. Free parking is available at Our Lady of Victories RC Church. Newbies are especially welcome! There is no requirement to formally join or pay fees the until the end of September.
We rounded off the last choir year with a rousing summer concert of “Music from Stage and Screen” on July 6th at a sold-out St Peter’s Church, Claybrook Parva. As last year, the huge audience were fulsome in their appreciation of a programme of favourites from Rodgers and Hammerstein and “Les Miserable”, skilfully put together by our Musical Director, Sarah Stephens. The concert also featured solos by the exceptionally talented young cellist, Edie Bott. Earlier, on May 18th, members of the Choir were delighted to participate in the Concert for Lutterworth at Lutterworth College along with a variety of other performing groups. £1,860 was raised for local charities. For pictures of this year’s events, visit our Facebook page.
On January 17th, we were honoured to sing in Coventry Cathedral as part of the thanksgiving service for our former member, Sue Crewe MBE. The uplifting event was attended by hundreds and proved to be a worthy tribute to a remarkable lady.
